What is the difference between 304 structural grade vs 316 marine grade steel?

1 minute read

Crimsafe’s Tensile-Tuff® 0.9mm 304 structural grade stainless-steel mesh is 26.5% thicker in cross-section than the 0.8mm 316 wire that most competitors use. This means that Crimsafe screens are stronger and more resistant to attack.

But the actual strength of the stainless steel is only part of what makes a security screen strong. The measure of how much energy, or impact, can be absorbed (also known as tensile strength) – is vital too. Only 304 structural-grade mesh delivers the high tensile strength required for the mesh to elongate and stretch upon impact without becoming brittle and giving way.

Not surprisingly, independent testing shows that Crimsafe screens can absorb more impact than other security screen products on the market. See our screens put to the test in The Crimpact Zone.
