Everyone loves a good Spring-clean, but after a summer of wild weather conditions, many Australians will find that they may be in need of a cleaning blitz in Autumn this year. What we’ve named the Autumn-clean. So where to start? Most cleaning experts recommend that you begin by letting fresh air into your home, through open doors and windows, to help remove the dampness and musty smells. But did you know that dirty security screens can reduce the effectiveness of airflow through your home? If your security screens are looking a little worse for wear, they might just be the first item added to the top of your Autumn-cleaning list. The cause of messy mesh No matter what type of security screens you have, all mesh can act as a filter and trap salt, moisture and airborne particles. Over time, these impurities can build up and cause marks and stains to appear on the mesh. Not surprisingly, one of the most common questions we get asked by our customers is how best to keep their Crimsafe products clean and performing at their best. Easy ways to clean your screens Like everything in your home, a little care and maintenance will ensure your security screens continue to perform at their optimum for years to come. Crimsafe’s specially-developed cleaning range is the easiest and most effective way to keep your screens in tip-top condition. You can shop the full range here. Simple steps for regular cleaning: Clean off surface dust first with your vacuum cleaner or a soft brush, such as the brush from your dustpan set. Dilute Crimsafe Wash and Wax in warm water, as per the instructions on the back of the bottle. Dip the Crimsafe Microfibre Cleaning Glove into the diluted Wash and Wax and clean down the mesh and frames. The rich foam lather has been specially formulated to break down and remove everyday contaminants from the surface of your screens, leaving them with a streak-free finish. Rinse with clean water. Dry with a clean cloth or chamois. Removing stubborn marks and stains: Crimsafe Stain Clean is the quick and easy way to remove the toughest stains and grime without damaging your screens. Dilute in warm water, as per the instructions on the back of the bottle. Dip the Crimsafe Microfibre Cleaning Glove into the diluted Stain Clean and wipe down the mesh and frames. Allow to stand for at least 5 minutes. The citric acid formulation quickly dissolves the build-up and stains. Wipe down with clean water for a sparkling finish. If necessary, rewash with Crimsafe Wash and Wax, as above. Do not clean your screens with vinegar, harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners or brushes. These will damage your screens and may risk voiding your warranty. How often should I clean my Crimsafe? Your Crimsafe cleaning regime will depend on where you live and what environmental factors your screens are exposed to. We recommend using the below as a guide: Happy autumn cleaning!
