The strength of Crimsafe security screens come from more than the sum of its parts:

- Crimsafe’s Tensile Tuff® mesh is a high strength structural-grade stainless steel that absorbs energy on impact and can withstand 5 times the average kick force of a crim.
- Crimsafe’s patented Screw Clamp® technology secures our mesh to the frame with a vice-like grip. On impact, Screw Clamp® bites down on the screen’s mesh, absorbing and dispersing impact through the screen.
304 versus 316 Mesh
304 grade is a stronger stainless steel mesh than 316 grade because of the metal compound (grade) under impact.
304 structural-grade stainless steel has a high chromium and nickel content, making it highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation-ideal for use in our diverse Australian climates. Whether you live in an area with high humidity, near the coast, or in a region prone to severe weather conditions, Crimsafe security screens maintain their integrity and appearance over time with regular cleaning.
This resistance to environmental factors ensures that the screens remain effective and visually appealing for years, offering long-term value to homeowners. Crimsafe’s 304 structural-grade mesh also provides an extra layer of security against natural elements such as bushfires and cyclones. Its tight weave prevents embers from entering your home during a bushfire, while its strength allows it to withstand debris impacts up to 46 m/s, ensuring that your home remains protected during extreme weather.
Crimsafe’s 0.9mm 304 grade mesh passes the Australian Standards Knife Shear test.
0.9mm versus 0.8mm stainless steel mesh
0.9mm Tensile Tuff® mesh is up to 26.5% stronger than many competitor’s 0.8mm mesh. 0.9mm structural-grade 304 stainless steel mesh has more tensile strength than 0.8mm, making it stronger and resistant to cutting or tearing.
0.9mm Tensile Tuff® mesh has 1.6mm aperture size for better airflow and unobstructed views, while providing robust protection against intruders and extreme weather.
Crimsafe's Strength and Testing
Crimsafe’s Tensile-Tuff® mesh is made from 0.9mm 304 structural-grade stainless steel and is 26.5% thicker than typical stainless-steel mesh found in other security screens. This increased thickness makes it significantly harder to cut or penetrate, effectively keeping out unwelcome guests, from crims to bugs.
The inherent strength of Crimsafe’s Tensile-Tuff® mesh results from its tightly woven structure, which not only provides durability but also ensures that the mesh does not compromise on visibility or airflow. Mitred versus welded corners
