Outperforms the rest – We do the testing so you don't have to. Crimsafe is independently tested time and time again to always exceed Australian Standards.
Severe storms can bring large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain. Margaret and Allen from Nambucca Heads in New South Wales experienced a sudden storm in May 2025.
A tree fell down near their home at the height of the storm, crashing into their window. Luckily, their glass was protected by a Crimsafe security screen window.
“Crimsafe was a great investment. Without Crimsafe we would have had a horrible mess in the back room after that storm. The Crimsafe screens have paid for themselves.”
Doors and windows are the hardest parts of your home to protect against the violent, debris-carrying winds of cyclones or severe storms. The Crimsafe range helps protect your home against hail and wind-borne debris.
Crimsafe has specially designed Cyclone Debris Screens that are approved for use in Cyclone regions C & D. The range features a special build-out installation to protect glass and is available in security screen doors, windows and Safe-S-Cape windows.
Crimsafe’s Cyclone Debris Screens can withstand:
Not all security screens can protect your home against storms and cyclones.
Crimsafe doesn’t just independently test our screens to meet Australian Standards, we by far exceed them by simulating real-world scenarios in the Crimpact Zone. Crimsafe security screens are rigorously put through the Cyclone Debris Test again and again, to measure its ability to withstand high-speed winds and storm debris.
The Cyclone Debris Screens Test (AS1170.2:2011) is conducted in two parts. An air cannon fires a missile at predetermined air pressures to generate the required impact speeds for Cyclone Regions C & D — Australia’s most heavily impacted storm regions — being 36 m/s and 46 m/s.
Crimsafe Cyclone Debris Screens protect from wind gusts up to 392 km/hr and can withstand impact from flying debris up to 46 m/s. To give you an idea of how protective this strength is, a category 3 tropical cyclone can have destructive wind speeds from 165-224 km/hr, category 4 between 225-279 km/hr and a category 5 cyclone more than 280 km/hr.**
Our research and development team is continually advancing the limits of Crimsafe Cyclone Debris Screen performance in the Crimpact Zone.

Yes. Selected Crimsafe products in the Ultimate range are approved for use in Cyclone regions C&D, withstanding impacts up to 46 m/s as per AS 1170.2:2011 standards. Cyclone regions C&D include areas in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
Cyclone region C is considered ‘cyclonic’ with wind speeds up to 220km/hr, and region D is ‘severe cyclonic’, with wind speeds up to 260km/hr. Selected Crimsafe security screens withstand wind gusts of up to 392 km/hr, without blocking out fresh air and breezes.
The Crimsafe Cyclone range features a special build-out installation to protect glass and is available in security screen doors, windows and Safe-S-Cape windows.

Many Australian homes may have what looks like a security screen, but it won’t stack up against an intruder. Stronger is safer for you and your family.
The strength of a Crimsafe security screen comes from many unique parts working together:
With Crimsafe your home is secure and you can still enjoy natural light and ventilation without obstruction.
Can you risk a security screen NOT holding up to the full force of a criminal’s kicks, punches or charges? Many other screens only pass the Australian Standards, which is simply not enough to give you peace-of-mind that your family and home are protected.
Only Crimsafe is independently tested again and again to exceed this Standard, but not all security screens have been tested (or pass).
Crimsafe exceeds the new Australian Standard AS5039, which measures five impacts of 200 Joules on a security screen. In fact, Crimsafe security screens offer four levels of protection and are so strong that they can withstand single impacts of 550 Joules (Crimsafe Regular), 750 Joules (Crimsafe Ultimate) and 1200 Joules (Crimsafe iQ).
Crimsafe has been proudly protecting Australian families and homes since 1996. Crimsafe exceeds standards for impact, jemmy and knife-shear testing to ensure our security screens provide the highest level of protection against intruders.
Only Crimsafe continually invests in research and development to stay ahead of emerging threats and to provide solutions that meet the evolving needs of homeowners. Independent testing shows that Crimsafe security screens can absorb more impact than other security screen products on the market.
Crimsafe is the strongest and most trusted. We test, test and test again.
At Crimsafe, we don’t just meet those standards – we’ve developed our security doors and windows to exceed them and we go above and beyond to set the highest standard for security screens. We do the testing, so you don’t have to.
Only Crimsafe has patented Screw Clamp® technology, giving it incredible strength and unrivalled resistance to real-world attacks from prowlers, unlike other screens that have weak plastic wedge or glue systems.
Crimsafe’s patented Screw Clamp® technology clamps down on impact and distributes the force of an impact across the entire aluminum alloy frame. This ensures that the mesh remains intact, even under tremendous force, providing superior protection against potential intruders. This innovative approach is what sets Crimsafe apart in the security screen market.
Watch to learn more about the strength of Screw Clamp®:
304 grade is a stronger high tensile stainless steel mesh than 316 grade because of the metal compound (grade) under impact.
304 structural grade stainless steel has a high chromium and nickel content, and has premium powder coating applied, making it highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation – ideal for use in our diverse Australian climates.
Whether you live in an area with high humidity, near the coast, or in a region prone to severe weather conditions, Crimsafe security screens maintain their integrity and appearance over time with regular cleaning.
This resistance to environmental factors ensures that the screens remain effective and visually appealing for years, offering long-term value to homeowners. Crimsafe’s 304 structural grade mesh also provides an extra layer of security against natural elements such as bushfires and cyclones. Its tight weave prevents embers from entering your home during a bushfire, while its strength allows it to withstand debris impacts up to 46 m/s, ensuring that your home remains protected during extreme weather.
Home intruders will often attempt to slash security screens with a blade to gain access to your home. Only Crimsafe’s 0.9mm structural grade 304 Tensile Tuff® mesh exceeds the Australian Standards Knife Shear test, which simulates an intruder attempting to cut through the screen with a knife, a common break-in method.
Learn more about Tensile Tuff® mesh:
0.9mm Tensile Tuff® mesh is up to 26.5% stronger than many competitors’ thinner 0.8mm mesh. 0.9mm structural grade 304 stainless steel mesh has more tensile strength than weaker 0.8mm, making it stronger and resistant to cutting or tearing.
How? Crimsafe’s Tensile Tuff® mesh is 26.5% thicker in cross-section, which assists its ability to absorb impact energy better at high tensile levels, providing unmatched strength and durability to keep your family safer at home.
0.9mm Tensile Tuff® mesh has 1.6mm aperture size for better airflow and unobstructed views, while providing robust protection against intruders and extreme weather.
Only Crimsafe has strong mitred corners with a solid one-piece aluminium corner stake. This allows more flex in the frame to allow for impact absorption. Others may have welded corners, which may restrict the movement of the door and provide weak points in the frame for prowlers to easily target and enter your home.
