Eligible Australians will receive $25,000 grants to build or substantially renovate their homes, under the Federal Government’s recently announced HomeBuilder Program. Homeowners looking to improve the safety of their home can have Crimsafe security screens installed on their doors and windows when incorporated as part of their new home build or renovations contract. Not just a wise investment for home security, Crimsafe’s extensive range can also be installed to create or extend living areas that are practical and secure, ultimately adding value to the home. How you can add value to your home with Crimsafe The inclusion of Crimsafe bi-fold doors to the rear entrance of the home is an effective way to bring the outdoors in without compromising the view, and a secured patio-enclosure is an attractive and cost-effective way of extending your living space. Irrespective of the build or renovation style, the smooth lines, high-end quality finish and aesthetics of Crimsafe’s extensive security screen range are sure to complement the architectural finish of any home. “When spending significantly to build or renovate your home, it is a sensible and worthwhile investment to have Crimsafe added to your doors and windows as a way of protecting your home and family for years to come”, says CEO of Crimsafe, Jim Sturgess. The value of the HomeBuilder Program The $688 million HomeBuilder Program has been introduced as a means to boost demand in the construction sector and keep builders employed following the COVID-19 pandemic. Prime Minister, Scott Morrison said, “If you’ve been putting off that renovation or new build, the extra $25,000 we’re putting on the table, along with record-low interest rates, means now’s the time to get started.” Eligibility The program, which aims to build 30,000 homes by Christmas, is available to those with middle-incomes wanting to build new homes or complete major renovations on their property. The grants are restricted to substantial renovations or the construction of new homes, with recipients required to spend between $150,000 and $750,000 before being eligible. The program will work along with existing state and territory first-home owner grants programs, stamp duty concessions and other grant schemes, including the federal government’s first-home loan deposit scheme and first-home super saver scheme. The grants will be means-tested, allowing singles who earned up to $125,000 the previous financial year and couples who earned up to $200,000 to access the scheme. In addition to several other eligibility criteria, any new construction or renovation must improve the liveability, accessibility or safety of your home. Applications are open until the end of the year. More information about applications can be found here: https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/homebuilder.
